Rig
Like many Hurley yachts, the 27’s masthead rig has a babystay as extra rig insurance and to remove it would entail the serious problem of resiting the chainplates for cap shrouds and lowers. Going about with a babystay is a minor annoyance, though the effects can be mitigated with a length of plastic waste pipe over it. Most boats of this age will be rerigged with a roller genoa by now, many with a later mast, doing away with mainsail controls at the mast
